I am Turkish and it has nothing to do with the Indians. It came from the Ottoman palace cuisine. Its name is not Ottoman sugar, it is Ottoman paste and it is made with aromas such as cloves, ginger, cinnamon, hibiscus, lemon, mint and orange. it's definitely nostalgic sorry my english is a bit bad

In Indonesia, the candy maker will shape the candy into a bird, balloon, etc. The maker would blow the candy and make a hole so the bird-shaped candy will make a sound just like a whistle when blown

In indonesia, we make this kind of candy too, there is a seller who make this candy wrapping on the straw which already cut into a smaller piece to make a candy stick. And then we enjoy the candy with a cup of soda so we can dip the candy in the cup and enjoy it too
