I grew up in a RV shop. My dad always put 5 gallons of water in the black tank BEFORE we left on every trip. The first thing we did when we arrived at our destination was dump the tank. I was amazed that the water was dirty with no use on the road.
He would dump the tank before we hit the road home and add 5 gallons again. Then dump at a rest stop just up the road. Have never had a problem with the tanks getting stuff built up in the tanks.

Yep. Gone are the days of durable valves. I have no need in mine. Its older. No chinesium in my water system. Ive already replaced all my diverter valves. Used real metal ball valves made in USA I purchased at the local hardware store. I dont get the over 10 year old rule in some parks tho. Ran into that the other day. My rig is in excellent shape. Looked at few of the full timer rigs in that park and They Looked Terrible. Yet I was turned away because mine is a '96? Go figure.

As a camper and homebrewer, I found that using StarSan or Aseptox, which are used to sanitize homebrewing equipment, work great for sanitizing the fresh water tank. No need to rinse repeatedly to get the funky bleach/vinegar taste/smell out of the system.

If you're storing your RV in a hot environment such as I have in Boulder City, Nevada, outside of Vegas, you have to flush the black water tank thoroughly and then leave it filled with water. If you don't, it will smell to high heaven, no matter how well you think you've flushed that tank. When you're using the RV the next time, dump that water and recharge with toilet chemical and a few gallons of water. No smell.

We use awning tie downs with heavy duty spikes and springs to keep it in place. Never had any issues with it.

Something I never thought of before, until I did it was winding up wet leaves from the top of the automatic awning. I was so accustomed to dry leaves dropping off the end as it rolls up that I didn't think about the fact that they might stick there and not fall off when wet. Now the awning won't budge and I know of no way to manually operate it.

Another good tip on water pressure is always turn valves slowly. Water hammer bad! I've repaired dozens of blown pipes over 30 years because of this simple concept. Good vid!

We can’t find the video again, but when you were attaching a garden hose so you could put water into the black water tank to flush it out. There was a little metal thing that you had to keep the water from back flushing into the garden hose. What was that called? We cannot find that video again please

Vinegar, I use that stuff in my inground swimming pool, eats algae, I use it on my drive way with oil leaks, it removes the black that tires leave on drive way cement, electric coffee makers, washing machine, every water tap, shower heads. After soaking in the vinegar the places I used it now become like new again

Excellent suggestions! I am so guilty of the wet bay knobs under pressure and I just sanitized my hot water tank with bleach this year! Now I know. Thanks for sharing these!

I've always recommended my customers to use Simple Green (or similar) solution to clean the a/c coils.
