Great video, and easy to follow! I installed a modbo 5.0 chip in my system, and pretty much skipped the ulaunchelf portion of the video, as I already had the app already installed on a flash drive. Other then that I followed the video, and now my system is region free, YAY! P.S. video audio is a little low. Something to keep in mind for the future. 😘

Can confirm this worked with the PS2 NTSC-U/C 9000 slim series. I did have to rinse and repeat running MechaPwn (the latest version of MechaPwn 3.0.4) 2 times. Meaning I unplugged it and ran it again until I got the menu to run it as American Multi Region. Hopefully that helps if you're scratching your head. PS1 disc games from other regions work too! And there is no hack necessary for the disc cover :-)

I feel bad for people who buy not knowing the difference between ntsc and pal, it's criminal, why couldn't they have just made it without region locking it so people could buy games and consoles without having to worry about this crap? It's trickery!

So been trying to install MechaPwn to my PS2 and I get to the screen and the only option i have is to restore the NVRAM and also when it shows the Model ID menu before the Mecha Bulid date just isn't there idk if my model just isn't compatible or if I'm doing something wrong

Super stupid question. But i followed your steps and thank you for making this video. Everything worked but i put a Japanese PS1 game and it's just a black screen and doesn't seem to be loading. Does Meach pwn not working with PS1 games?

I followed all these directions, but when i get to booting mechapwn, it just says my id is unknown, and to report. so i tried using the newest dev build instead, and while it still says my id is unknown, it gives me the option to boot from nvram. I have the scph 70000 model, granted it is japanese. Tho i saw other people here reported it worked on those consoles (mine is currently set to english). is this a mechapwn problem that i should put on the github, or do you think i could be doing something wrong?

might be a dumb question but if I have a japanese ps2 would I still select usa(multi-7) for the region select part?

I did this with a Japanese ps2 and everything installed perfectly but when I try and load up a game like you did at 8:30 it recognizes it as a ps2 disc and when I go in its a black screen for like 15 seconds and then it just goes back to the screen from before with the disc and ps2 memory card. The game does not want to load
