I agree, that there is no or just mild corrlecation it's all about muscle balance. People with chronic neck pain offtenly have weak and long upper trapezius which create protective tension to bring shoulders up since those people got the shoulders very low and anterior tilted which create spasm to the upper traps since they have to work 24/7 and the only way to rid of the chronic neck pain is strenghten that upper traps and erector spiane.
