To get started, if the PRNDS indicator is all lit, this means your transmission has went into failsafe mode. This may only seem like a transmission problem, but engine problems can also cause the automatic trans to go into failsafe too. From there it is best to scan codes to find out what is (or could be) causing it.

Transmission in failsafe mode, can be caused by either transmission or engine problem.

hi guys, just got my car fix my car audi a3 2, 0 tdi, problem was faulty wiring from gear lever to ignition strip out body control ecu and wiring repair fulty signal wire and rebuild

have same problem on my 04 Audi A6 2.7t, I was told by a Audi mechanic that it should be the
auto Trans gear position sensor. Idk for sure but replacing it this weekend. Will update if it works

I have a similar issue only mine decides to go into the 'limp' or 'safe' mode after 60mph, I have an Audi A6 C6 3.0 Quattro 2008, I took the car to 3 different garages who said the same thing, which was to change the CVT oil in the gearbox, upon doing this I still had no luck & the car continued to go into the 'limp/safe' mode. I'm currently looking at other forums at the moment and have narrowed it down to a few things.

1. The TCU module (Transmission Control Unit), may need to be replaced as a common problem with Audi A6's is that the passenger side footwell can get very wet/damp and can cause issues to the module. As far as I'm aware the TCU is located in that region.

2. The gear stick itself may need replacing.

3. Replace the CVT oil in the gearbox. (Which made no difference to my car)

Obviously there may be more issues to look into but I will post something as soon as I have more information.

If anyone does have any info that would help, please let us know.

we connected the reader it showed cylinder 3 misfire, meaning spark plug or coil, after that fix car was fine
