Joe has evolved from the realm of bear noises and become one with the sleep apnea noise. An inspiration.

I have sleep apnea. I just got diagnosed this year but suspected it for many years. Knowing what I know now, I actually think I had it my entire life. I can’t use a cpap (hate it) so I use a sleep apnea mouth device. I’m 3-4 months in and my quality of sleep lately is amazing. I never knew that you could wake up NOT tired. Not looking forward to bed the moment you wake up. Not randomly falling asleep. Having no energy. Even as a teen I craved sleep. I now feel refreshed. I have energy. Not as much brain fog. I don’t wake up with headaches every day. I feel so much better.

As a person with sleep apnea - ABSOLUTELY TRUE
I had undiagnosed sleep apnea for a year. My first night sleeping with a machine was basically the first night I had slept in a year. I cried the next morning, I literally didn't remember what it was like to get a night's sleep.
My health has improved dramatically!

As a Sleep Technician for the last 23 years, I SO appreciate you showing concern and giving sound, firm advice, Joe. I really hope he listened to you and took it seriously. He can easily die in his sleep of a heart attack (but secondarily caused by obstructive sleep apnea). I've used CPAP myself for 14 years, and good for you in getting that special mouthpiece!

I have sleep apnea, and my machine broke and I was sleeping at my mother's house and she said she had to go in my room she said I sounded like I was literally choking to death and then several seconds would go by and she would hear me gasping for air. I immediately made a new appointment for a new sleep study, because I was wondering why I literally could not stay up during the day would fall asleep after I've been up for only an hour, and literally could not remember anything anyone said 5 minutes after having a conversation with them. Sleep apnea stresses to heart, and it really ruins the quality of life, to the point where you are so tired during the day you can't enjoy anything. That was really nice of Joe Rogan to help that man out.

I'm a RN. I have severe obstructive sleep apnea. I believe I had it since 2nd grade. It virtually ruined my life. I never did the sounds or snoring. My body would just wake me so I'd wake 100s of times a night and then as part of routine preop tests for a cosmetic procedure at age 39 they required a sleep study. I had 318 times I stopped breathing. Woke 248x. Pulse ox 71%. My whole life my quality of life has sucked from fatigue, feeling crappy all the time, etc. I went to doctor after doctor w my laundry list of problems and they either dismissed it or acted as if I was a drug seeker. Or they'd put me on a bunch of meds that never helped. Since I didn't snore...literally NOONE ever did a sleep study on me and I suffered my whole life for it.

This hit me really hard.

When I was 3 years old riding a tricycle I was ran over by a truck. I broke both my left and right collarbones, my left wrist, I had 2nd degree road rash on the entirety of my left face as I was dragged on concrete before the driver stopped. But the worst thing that happened was breaking my nose.

Upon arrival to the hospital I was immediately rushed into surgery where I underwent 4 hours of operations battling for my life. Because of the horrible shape I was in the doctors were only able to preform operations that were absolutely necessary for my survival as additional surgery’s would actually put me in even more danger. One of those injuries they didn’t fix at the time was my broken nose.

Because I was so young, growth occurs quickly. So by time they were able to fix my nose without jeopardizing my life the septum of my nose was touching the inside of my left nostril blocking off my airway. As a result of this I can hardly breath out of the left side of my nose so I snore loudly because it’s not possible to stop. I have underwent 5 deviated septum surgeries to try and open my nose more so I could breath better but none of them worked. (The breathing machine also didn’t help).

Sleep Apnea is the worst. Not only does it make falling sleep hard, it makes staying asleep hard as well. But above all this the worst part was the insecurities it left me with. In 3rd grade we took a nap in class for 30 minutes as a reward for something by the teacher and I was very excited but then when the time came for the nap I started snoring and I was made fun of for it. It really hurt my feelings to know I wasn’t ‘normal’ because of something outside of my control
