WWE getting hot was the worst thing to happen to AEW

"I don't wanna get all hard on AEW" yeah that's kinda the entire issue

AEW's mistake was letting Cody Rhodes go to WWE. At some point, Tony Khan will need to cut the Vince McMahon power act and bring in prominent producers and invest in a performance center.

2 main reasons

-Vince left
-You guys basically kickstarted AEW downfall with the Punk vs Elite rumors

Fact!

I have been saying this aew was doing so well because Vince was booking and controlling everything the day he got kicked out we see the difference

Someone blew my mind recently by saying the terrible TNA ratings that were coming out before the Hogan stuff are better than AEW ratings now

Vince being forced out wwe & Triple H taking over creative was the worst thing that happened to AEW hopefully TK can start booking better bcuz the talent is there

Tony Khan doesn’t know how to tell stories that make new stars. It’s as simple as that.

The main reasons is Tony but Alvarez, Vinnie and Dave will never say it. Never admit it.

Storylines are nonexistent. Let's face way Punk was shown the door was the end of this company. Even the 800k of diehards are fading.

Tony Khan either only tells stories he wants to see play out or stories that only hard-core fans would get. He needs to hire a team. It's becoming hard to watch. The wrestling is great, the stories are not.

I was a huge AEW fan but the last couple years it just isn’t anywhere close to what it was. TK should’ve found people who can book and handle everything and just be the owner. It’s unwatchable nowadays.

Is anyone not able to say that TKs disastrous, coke-addled booking, and the stunt matches, are the #1 reason why no one is checking for AEW anymore? Even if WWE wasn’t as hot as fish grease in Georgia in July (and it is), no one would be tuning in for literally the same matches over and over again.

WWE was smart for bringing the Rock back. I want AEW to do well. I want all wrestling promotions to do well.

It’s terrible right now, no gimmicks, no storylines, commentary is too old and repetitive, they’re not taking care of their appearance and physique anymore. Too many wrestlers and too many shows not enough content for so much. Tony Khan has to hire show people and writers that are not wrestlers but understand tv and what is now relevant

WWE got better and so now the main reason AEW was created in the first place is no longer necessary. There is no longer a need for an alternative, that’s all it is

I agree with this take 1-Billion-Percent.
And I have no bias in the WWE-AEW war, but I still mainstain WWE from 2018-2020 was absolute ass and many other years during the 2010's were as well.
In fact, if there's any bias I have, it's not towards AEW, it's towards the other TKO company, the UFC. I've said it many times in my personal life, but WWE being so mid for so long turned me into a UFC fan.
As particularly during the McGregor-Rousey Era, they were actually telling (promoting) more compelling stories than even WWE could, on top of having exciting matchups.
Now, that luster of AEW being the alternative to a poorly executed WWE doesn't really shine like it used to now that WWE is on-fire and taking former massive AEW stars (Cody, Punk and more) that were missued at one point in WWE and finally using then to their fullest.
I still appreciate AEW's existence, as it's likely we'd never see Cody reach this point, Punk ever return to wrestling and the absolute Goddess that is Jade Cargill, so to say they're just a company of no-selling flips would be disingenuous.
But yeah, WWE poppin off did them no favors.

Well there were a couple of reason. 1) Vince left. WWE had become stale as hell and you could miss a few weeks and not miss a thing. 2) Tony cant stop screwing himself over with bad management and weak leadership. There are so many things that should have been done to prevent Punk leaving and especially for the reasons he left. HHH got to have Wrestlemania and both world championships had direct influence by ex AEW people. Then you add in Jade looking like a real star and booked correctly. Sadly, I think the biggest improvement of any of the ex AEW people has been Brian Pillman Jr. He looks night and day different now. TK only has to go to the closest mirror to find the problem with AEW and its falling ratings.

Legend has it a couple of Pauls started cooking something fierce when AEW's numbers got close to WWE.

Because Tony Khan has added disastrous decision making to his non-existent booking ability
