Grid Tie Inverter Upgraded Cooling - Hands On Workbench Footage - Part 1

I have a lot of solar inverters and grid tie inverters that run too hot. By the time the fans come on, the inverter can be over 50C. This is too hot for longevity of the components inside. Inverter cooling is an often overlooked reason why they fail and overheat. In this video I show you a really simple and cheap way to boost the cooling of a solar grid tie inverter, forcing it to run at a cooler temperature without modifying the internal electronics at all. Simple commercial off the shelf brushless electric DC fans are used in this video for auxiliary cooling, and are available from any electronics supply house.
