Will your gas fireplace work in a power outage? Depending on your fireplace model, you can operate your hearth even during a power outage. Many Heat & Glo gas fireplaces and gas inserts include IntelliFire or IntelliFire Plus ignition systems, which have battery backup systems that can be used to ignite the pilot if you find yourself without power in your home. Watch our video to learn more.

Thanks so much. Piedmont came out about a month ago for an annual inspection and told me this but I completely forgot what he said to do. I was going to turn the switch on and use my lighter but I probably would have blown up the house. I forgot about the battery thing. Thanks again. It’s 11 degrees here in NC in December 2022.

My heat & glo doesn’t have a battery tray. How do I install one?

Thanks for the help! My issue was the springs in the battery pack were not strong enough to make sure the batteries were making good contact. I pushed the batteries once I noticed and it worked right away.

In a power outage I do this video to start it but then how do I turn it off if I’m still with no power? By the wall switch or just turn pull the batteries out?

I have watched at least 7 videos about using fireplace during power outage. None of you guys has thought about how about fieplace that are not equipped with the battery compartment. My house buit in 2008 and don't have that. How dum that nobody thought about explaining that...I guess I'm gonna find out the voltage of my fireplace valve and figure out how to create one myself...

Imagine that they didn't install the battery tray into my fireplace in one of the coldest parts of Canada. Do you know how to install one?

Looks like you are not replying to any comments, so I'm just venting this out to the world. I got a Slimline 7X last year, and it's incredibly difficult to access the battery pack section. Two screws have to be removed from the backside of the bar. Imagine how difficult that would be in a power outage situation when you likely don't have light?? I can remove it and leave it off, but now the wires and bits are visible. I'm incredibly disappointed in this small but important issue.

Will the blower run on batteries for a short period?

Lighting the fire with batteries is easy. How do you connect a Power Bank like Anker so the fan runs. The fire is next to useless without the fan

We built our house in 2001 and no battery light. So I need to find a way to light it.

My gas fireplace does NOT have a battery backup, it is so old. It has a pilot light that is continuous. What do I do instead?

Does wall switch work because of battery in event of outage?

It's so weird that this is a manual process.. Why not just have a switch that activates during a power outage... Instead of a manual connection... When I bought a home.. The battery backup was connected.. So the batteries were heavily corroded due to constant charge...
