China Coast Guard warns PH after blaming PH for collision: 'Give up fantasy, retreat immediately'

On The Scene: China and the Philippines accused each other of ramming their ships in the West Philippine Sea on Saturday (August 31), the latest in an escalating series of clashes in the vital waterway. Footage released by the Philippine coast guard showed multiple collisions between the two ships. A statement from China’s coast guard read out on state broadcaster CCTV said a Philippine ship that was illegally stranded at Sabina Shoal had lifted anchor and "deliberately rammed" a Chinese vessel. The Philippine coast guard said a Chinese vessel had "intentionally rammed" three times one of its ships. Beijing claims almost the entire South China Sea, including parts claimed by the Philippines, Brunei, Malaysia, Taiwan and Vietnam. Portions of the waterway, where $3 trillion worth of trade passes annually, are believed to be rich in oil and natural gas deposits, as well as fish stocks.

So what's Philippines' next step and plan? China's intent is to disable the Philippine ship, confiscate the ship, and push the ship to China using the Chinese tug boats. The Philippine ship happened to be moving instead of anchored the reason of the confiscation failure. Philippine need to think quick and need to be one step ahead instead of just waiting. Next time, that ship won't be so lucky.

China reaffirmed its claim over the disputed Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea after the Philippine government removed the floating barrier to prevent Filipino fishing boats from entering the area. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said the shoal and its adjacent waters are China’s inherent territory, and therefore Beijing has indisputable sovereign rights in the disputed waters.
The Chinese claims are mostly based on its historical rights during the Han Dynasty, dating back over 2, 000 years ago. In modern history, China backed its sovereignty claim and related rights over this territory following the 1943 Cairo Declaration and the 1945 Potsdam Proclamation. After World War II Japan returned to China the Chinese territories it had occupied, including Taiwan and the Penghu Islands, the Xisha Islands, and the Nansha Islands.
However, the 2016 Arbitral Tribunal under the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea invalidated China’s historical claims over the disputed waters of the South China Sea.
