Hererope does have steel cable inside the PVC. You need wirecutters to cut it shorter. Maybe older ones didn’t but mine is new as of July 2024. Just cut it today and it is 2mm twisted steel inside.

The Hererope is also PVC-Coated wire. Trust me-I adjusted the length of mine and it was definitely wire in there. I needed a wire cutter to cut it. (And my husband's strong hands).

Hererope swivel style would've been better if the handles were aluminum or ABS like their gray weighted old-style handles instead of cheap bakelite crap lmfao. Mine lasted 1 month, but their other rope (gray ABS handles) has lasted me more than 1 year and it's a superior material, just not swiveled.
