People tend to seriously underestimate top talents of the past, ignoring the fact that back then, there wasn't nearly as much player support (in the form of analytics, facilities, coaches, physios etc.). Football in general was much harder to learn and improve at.
If players like Shearer had the education, training, facilities, coaches, playmakers and tactics that strikers in teams like Real Madrid and Manchester City have access to, he would've outscored everyone with his eyes closed; and this applies even more to legends like Pele.

Alan Shearer is the top goal scorer in Premier League history.
Shearer was often styled as a classic English centre-forward, owing to his strength, physical stature, heading ability and strong shot, which enabled him to be a highly prolific goalscorer.
He broke so many individual records over his career and the majority of them still stand today, almost 2 decades since he retired.

So happy that I was a teenager and really really into football during this era. I never missed a MOTD and I knew all the players and transfers. It was a great time to be a young lad. Shearer was magnificent to watch.

Blackburn won it at Anfield with Dalglish as the manager. Almost the entire crowd stayed for the trophy presentation and cheered them on as if they were the home team.

The modern disrespect towards Shearer is truly remarkable, as someone who lived thru his era, he was an absolute beast.

as a Toon, I see Lucas talking about Big Al, I watch, I click like, no question raised.

I mean, in childhood, he idolised Keegan while playing at Newcastle, and when Keegan, as now a manager, asked him to join his hometown club, it's 2 dreams come true together at the same time, anyone with heart would not reject that chance.

Wow, great to see you doing a video on Shearer, I think English strikers are often overlooked, especially of that era. Even with the amount of goals he scored and created, nobody talks about him these days.

Alan Shearer is the Premier League Hall of Famer for a reason. Could have easily joined Manchester United and won more titles but he sacrificed that to play for his boyhood club Newcastle and became an Icon for them. Newcastle's all time top scorer, drag the team to Champions League football and scored bangers after bangers including that goal against Portsmouth to clement his legacy. Part of that Blackburn side that won the Premier League title in 1995 and had the record of the most Premier League goals in a single season with 34(albeit in the 42 game match day) before Haaland smashed it with 36 Premier League goals. However still has the most all time Premier League goals with 260 after he retired in the 05/06 Premier League season.

Playing as number 9 at Newcastle United is every Geordies dream, and Shearer lived that dream 🖤🤍

THE PL STRIKER GOAT. Henry may have had the style and skills but Shearer in his prime was raw power. Scary to think he lost basically 2 seasons in his prime years through injuries, probably would have pushed 300 goals had he stayed fit!

The world wasn't ready if Alan Shearer was born in this generation

Can you do a video about Ricardo (goalkeeper) or Chalana?

alan shearer? boring? the person who says that clearly doesn't know football. he was the most dynamic striker soccer had. he had everything, the physic, the stature, the eye for goal, the speed, the stamina. the most complete striker during his time. a pure jack of all trades and a master of everything!

I NEED you to make a vid of Dybala. His bday was yesterday and reminds how he REJECTED 75 MILLION contract from Saudi to stay at Roma. Plus that video of Dybala in Rome is one of the best in Football history IMO. He is world class but it's his style, flair and finesse which blows my mind.
