Papagika (Παπαγκίκα) / Operetta / Den Me Xevris Den Se Xevro (Δεν Με Ξευρεις, Δεν Σε Ξευρω) / 1922

Marika Papagika, known for her recordings of traditional Greek songs of the Ottoman era, also recorded some 'pop' songs. Instead of her usual cymbalom, violin, cello and clarinet backing, she is here accompanied by the Victor house 'orchestra' directed by the ubiquitous Nat Shilkret.

The song, 'You Don't Know Me, and I Don't Know You' (Den Me Xevris Den Se Xevro), comes from the operetta (revue?) 'Le Tango d'Une Masque' (The Tango of a Masquerade Ball). The score states the composer as 'A. M.', and the lyricist as 'X. X.' The Victor label gives no credits, only stating 'Greek Dance'.
