With a solid week of overcast and rain, I picked a day where there was no rain during my flight. But things didn’t start out well as the plane went nowhere when I tried to taxi. Forgot to remove the chocks. Then the engine wouldn’t restart until I finally got it to start, using the flooded restart method. As it turned out, the ceilings were higher than the METARs. At KMVY and back at KOWD, I was cleared for the approach before reaching the IAF. This was convenient since the autopilot was ready to descend to the IAF fix using VNAV (but I couldn’t descend without permission). At KMVY, the wind had picked up since checking the METAR on the ground. The landing wind was 070 17G28 – had I known I would have picked another airport. At KOWD, I flew the GPS 35 circle to land 10.

Very professional as always. Thanks for pointing out your concerns, we always learn more from those. It was a stabilized approach, but at an angle. You made the right concern and decision. Good flight.

Nice flight - looked like a tricky landing. I have a quick question about your kneeboard, is it a one piece with the iPad connected or are the two separate? What brand is it if it's one piece?
Thanks

Do you remember what time of day this occurred? I may have been your approach controller.
