Have you ever considered that Rose and Finn's trip to Canto Bight was a huge turning point for Finn's character? He thinks the place is paradise and Rose show's him that there is a dark side. Which in turn makes him understand that he needs to be ever vigilant against tyranny and oppression and that running away to "paradise" wouldn't solve his problems, i.e. Finn is done running away.

It's a shame about Rose. I was excited when they hyped her up at Celebration. And her intro in the movie I liked. Thought Finn was a hero then stunned him. Then everything after that scene just... dragged and pissed me off.
I love JJ Abrams. So. I hope he does something much more compelling with the character in Ep9. Hopefully kill her off so Finn and Rey can make force sensitive mixed babies. 😂

Rose would have been more useful if she was shot after she bit hux. At least it would give a strong motivation and purpose for Finn to become more aggressive and more of a hero in his fight against the first order

I do understand what her purpose was, but I still disliked her character. The arc Johnson was trying to create for Finn was supposed to be a mirror of Rey's arc - both characters were trying to "find their place in all this" while being pulled in opposite directions. For Finn, we were supposed to recognize that he had not yet decided to join the Resistance. He is just trying to save Rey and get away from the First Order. Rose exists to present him with the arguments for fighting back against the FO. DJ (Benecio Del Toro) is presenting Finn with the opposite argument - Don't Join. This is why Rose comes across as moralizing and preachy - she is trying to convince Finn that to fight the FO is the right thing to do. The problem is that Finn HAS already joined the Resistance. As soon as he went to Canto Bight, his decision is made, and he never seems to waver in that choice. Going to Starkiller Base was a "save Rey" mission. Going to Canto Bight was a "save the Resistance" mission. When he declares himself to be "rebel scum" we are supposed to cheer that Finn has finally declared that he is siding with the good guys. But it didn't work at all. Like you said, it was bad storytelling. Oh, and Rose stopping Finn from making his sacrifice and then giving him that kiss… that was some of the worst writing in Star Wars EVER!

1. Chewbacca's family - During the infamous Christmas Special, they were disturbing and weird.
2. Rose - hands down. "We need to save our friends" Finn: "But you just prevented me from saving our friends by saving me, and now they're all dead."
3. Holdo - She served zero purpose. They should have just had Leia make the choices.
4. Baby Anakin
5. Teenage Anakin - Hayden Christensen is a terrible actor. It made me cringe watching him act. "I killed them. I killed them all."
6. Jar Jar - Yes, his character was a major cog in the birth of the Empire, but he was just too over the top.
7. CGI Leia - Everything was fine until she turned around at the end of Rogue One. Everyone knew who she was. There was no reason for her to turn around. She looked awful.
8. Ziro - His southern accent completely clashed with how I perceived Hutts.
9.Hux - You guys nailed it. He had potential in Ep. 7 but he turned into a punchline in Ep. 8.
10. Finn - Everything about him seems forced.

What is this list. It has central characters that were badly written (not all of them though) mixed with annoying characters that are literally on screen for 5 seconds. How do you compare the two?
