On August 14, 2024, hundreds of Afghan people and Taliban fighters took to the streets of Kabul to commemorate the third anniversary of the Taliban's return to power. Taliban fighters paraded through the city in former U.S. military vehicles, waving Taliban flags and chanting slogans. While some Afghan citizens expressed support for the Taliban administration, they also voiced concerns about the lack of job opportunities and the ongoing economic challenges forcing many to migrate to neighboring countries. The Taliban's return to power in 2021 marked the end of a 20-year U.S.-led intervention in Afghanistan.
