Special thanks to our Patreons for their support of the channel! CX5, RAV4, or CRV?

The touch screen can be used while driving. You can change that in settings.

The CX-5 is way better value than RAV4 and CRV, you guys did a great review but still lacking the judgment of recognizing how beautiful, high quality, driving dynamics, old school technology of simplicity without 500 sensors that could malfunction any minute, no CVT transmission, ease of repair, quietness, solid construction, reliable and high quality parts, interior, drive train, suspension, sound proof and much more in the CX-5 than other SUVs in this segment . Who cares about 1 mile less per gallon when you're driving this beauty combined with the beast .

We just bought a 2024 cx5 I'm a retired mechanic so I did my research. We tested rav 4 and crv the bang for the buck the was no comparison. And the none turbo model has plenty of power for my wife. After owning it for only a few months we haven't been disappointed.

You're wrong. I've used the scroll wheel over a year now and I cannot go back to touch. Touch screens are alot more dangerous. Never heard that it's dangerous the other way around. 😂

In a study it has been proven that it is less dangerous to use the scroll wheel instead of the touch screen, that's why Mazda did it!

Another major plus for the CX-5 is that it's still 100% made in Japan (at least the one we get in the US)!

Completely disagree with the infotainment being dangerous with the scroll wheel. Owned a 2019 Mazda cx9 here in Aus and I love how it perfectly laid out with my left hand while driving. Touchscreen, on the other hand, personally, it is more dangerous as some infotainments can be clunky and lags which can be frustrating - based on experience too.

"as a driver who loves driving my downsides are lack of automatic driving assists" what a strange statement.

i don’t think a vehicle should be dinged for not offering a hybrid variant any more than it should be dinged for not being able to fly to the moon. If it had a BAD hybrid variant that would be a fair complaint, but I think vehicles should be reviewed based on what they are, not what they aren’t. There are other vehicles for that

Just got our 2024 CX-5 GS model this July.
Paid the extra $500 for the Soul Red Crystal Metallic.
Best red colour of any brand of car, imo.
What a car.
Love that it’s not “all new tech”, for the driver, and still has knobs available for adjustments while driving.
The ride is phenomenal, the driving experience is awesome, and the road noise I’d minimal.
No hybrid, no turbo, just gas.
Test drove Subaru Forester, Nissan Rogue, GMC Denali, Trailblazer, Equinox, Honda CRV, Toryota Rav 4.
Best “bang for your buck”, imo, was the Mazda CX-5….for *our* situation.
2 seniors not wanting to break the bank, but pay for some luxury.
Will re-review in 6 months.

If you own a Mazda and you get used to the button layout, I do think it's easier to navigate while you're driving. You memorize the buttons without having to look down.

I have the 2024 CX-5 Carbon Turbo with the Rhodium white paint. The terracotta interior looks great.

Just bought a CX-5 carbon, I think the colors go together beautifully and I love it! It may help that terracotta is one of my favorite colors 🙂. I also don't like white cars; I test drove a cx-5 with a black and white interior and thought it was hideous. It comes down to personal preference...to each their own! I do wish the mpg was a bit better, but I wanted more power and the driving experience is great. A huge step up from my 2013 Mazda 3! Driven Mazdas since 1992 and love them!

I very much dislike fingerprints on the screens, don't touch them, control knobs and buttons work very well.

Non-turbo if you want to keep it longer than your loan. Just better chances of avoiding any engine issues. My opinion. I hold onto cars for, on average, 10yrs. Thanks for the reviews! Looking at these used. Base CX-30.

If the touch screen is the same as in the cx50, the touch screen does work when you're driving. The option is on the settings of the blue tooth.

Wife's car was 2016 Mazda 3 GS. I fell in love with it while I had a 2016 Tucson and a 2018 Tiguan. Tiguan crapped out so bought the CX5 GT in 2023. She now has a manual Mazda 3GS and our son inherited the 2016 Mazda 3 GS.

Why I love this car is because it's tried and trued. Independent suspension and independent rear suspension. It's probably me favourite car having owned a CRV, Tucson and a Tiguan.

Regarding the infotainment. I love the dial vs the touch screen. Hated the smudgy gross touch screens when teenagers used my car. Dial works when you know the inputs. So it's the best to date.

Next year in 2025 there is a new CX-5 coming out, with a rumored hybrid from Toyota. This car because it is so old is known for it rock solid reliability. If you want to have a reliable SUV that will last 200, 000 miles, this is your car. You want something more modern and maybe not as long-term reliability, look elsewhere. We just looked at the CX-5, Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4, and Hyundai Tucson. The interior of the CX-5 and ride sold my wife on the Mazda. If we can get one for the right price, we will probably buy one next year.

I still don't get the touch screen thing....why are you playing with the screen while you are driving? When you are driving, please drive!!!
