Everyone was a hero on this day. Capt. Sully, first officer Skiles, the flight attendants, air traffic control, the water rescue police, the police helicopters, the ferry operators, the passengers on both the plane and the ferries helped out anyone they could. Just amazing

I just love how he's like so casual about it when he says "we're ganna be in The Hudson" as if landing in a river was no big deal.

Patrick Harten ( the ATC controller ) was *ALSO* continuously directing at least 8 other aircraft at the same time as Cactus 1549. As at 3:07 and 3:30, etc.
His work was outstanding.
The 14 ferry boat crews involved, and others, got all 155 souls off the plane to safety, including injured people, the elderly, children, babies, non-swimmers, a handi-capped person, *AND* people in the water, in a mere 21 minutes, or much less, after they arrived on scene.
And for what it's worth, I can't even maneuver a canoe, or a rowboat, WITH HELP, half as well as those ferry boat Captains maneuvered their large, cumbersome crafts.
Utterly outstanding work.

You don't realize the complexity of the rescue until you see those upclose camera shots and how fast the current was dragging the aircraft. The fact that those ferries could keep up and adjust their position constantly is just mind blowing. What a testament to the quality of professionals we have.

Some of the best piloting skills ever. Sully and his whole crew saved a lot of lives both in the aircraft and on the ground.

After the incident, Captain Sully became my inspiration.... The way things were handled during chaos was unbelievable.. Thanks to the First officer, crew, passengers and responders for working together....

I just finished watching the movie Sully, and my god i can't believe that he still had to go through all that bullshit even after he saved all those on board. The man is a hero, and a true master pilot. He knew his plane better than any engineer, and correctly assessed the situation on the spot and made the best choice.

Hats off to you, captain!

how about the piloting skill of the ferry captain, he got his boat up along side the plane and then drifted backwards with it without hitting and sinking whats essentially a big tin can. If he did a bad job the plane would be underwater in a minute! All the rest also. It was an amazing display of piloting in the air and on the water

Saw the movie, and all the interviews, etc. after it happened, and I think the point of the movie was really to show how the whole event impacted Capt. Sullenberger's life! It's like Tom Hanks said in the movie(as Sully, paraphrased), "I've been flying all my life; have delivered thousands of passengers safely to their destinations -- and this is all I'll be remembered for!"

If anyone else has ever noticed, in all the interviews, etc. after it happened, the man is very quiet and appears almost painfully shy! He only seems to come alive talking about or being in and around airplanes (and talking to his wife in the movie). Tom Hanks played the man beautifully. Sully's only concern was for his passengers -- and by god, he wasn't losing any of them! As for it being a 'miracle', I'm not inclined to believe in such things. It was 40+ years of experience that brought that airplane down safely. People could have drowned afterward, but they didn't due to the NY tour boats being so close at hand. I love when everyone kept calling it a "crash', and Sully insisted it was a 'water landing'! The whole thing was as professional as it can get!

"Before you talk on the radio gather your thoughts. Take a deep breath and speak calmly and clearly." That's what a check airman told me as a new hire in SIM training. 1988-2018 with Eagle, USAir, and Amerian. Sully did a great job.

After all this time I am still in awe and amazed how calm the Captain, the air traffic controller, and everyone who were "just doing their job" when that happened. My hat off and eternity respect and gratitude to all the wonderful beautiful heroes.

This warms my heart. New York, New York. Heroism under the shadow of a city that felt tragedy.

You know what, much respect to the ferry boat captains as well for essentially saving all souls on board from hypothermia.
