After the age of 40-50ish, women’s upper arms aren’t quite as firm as they used be, and maybe never were like me! I love the vest look, but wearing it sleeveless is out of the question. I literally laughed out loud at the old couch 😂. Honestly, I’m 44, and I avoid wearing anything quilted. I even love quilts and live in a cottage-y home with quilts, but I’m not wearing them as clothes. Someone else can do that.

Also, yes to the aversion to the chunky, heeled loafer from the 90’s. I do love a vintage-y loafer style pump with a slim heel, though.

Anna, I remember Princess Diana wearing a quilted jacket in her “casual” life back in the earlier 80’s and she also had the cutest quilted handbag. I was in high school then and thought they were grandma ish but oh so cute with a pair of faded denim. Would I wear a quilted jacket now? No but your talking about it brought back a nice memory ❤

I still live on a bicycle at age 71 and 2/3. Bermudas in denim and linen, but always A line. Love them with good quality linen shirts. I would be laughed out of Sicily with a skirt over trousers. Yesss do come on a research trip, you won't regret it!

Would love a vest video! I'm with you on all the skips except jeans under skirts/dresses - I never stopped loving this since the 90s! Especially in fall/winter when I want to wear my short dresses but it's cold - the dress just turns into a tunic.

Much easier to wear a vest if you have a certain chest size. I have a monster chest and vests are not really made for my body but that goes for much of the spring/summer options.

I love Bermuda shorts forever. Denim is tricky. I feel that with denim shorts they look better if I go up a size and have them more relaxed. They key is to style with cute shoes and a top that shows my upper body (which I’m more comfortable with)
I’m 50 and generally people think I’m a lot younger so I feel like I must be doing something right with the way I dress. 🥰
I get it though, no matter what your age is, body type and personal style comes first.

I have a chocolate brown suede jacket my mom brought me in 1989 or 1990 when I was in college. It’s still in perfect shape and isn’t too long or short. Slightly oversized. Fit me me so well. Every time I plan to wear it, it seems like it’s going to rain and I won’t risk it. I’ve lost so many things over the years but am so glad I still have this amazing jacket.
