Fender MA-1 3/4 Size Steel String Guitar

Fender's upgraded MA-1 mini acoustic guitar with shortened scale provides an improved playing experience for young students and players with smaller hands.

With quality materials and construction similar to that of more expensive full-size instruments, the MA-1 features upgraded tuners for more stable intonation, Fender headstock logo, and back and sides made from a beautifully grained tropical wood called sapele, which produces a sweet, full tone.

Its durable laminated agathis top with X-bracing is great for first-time players and experienced players looking for a more portable acoustic they can take to the campsite or beach without a worry.

Highly recommend this guitar. I have a Squire Ma-1 that I got when I was younger. I started playing guitar when I was 9. I'm 21 now and I've had guitars far more expensive like Martin and Larrivee but I always come back to this guitar. I love mine so much that I paid to have electronics put in it so I could use it at gigs. Almost everyone who has ever played mine has told me if I ever decided to sell it to let them know but that's never going to happen. It ages extremely well for a low end guitar. Also if you want bang for your buck check out the Alvarez MD60BG it is $600 but basically just as good as a D28 even though I'm sure die-hard Martin fans will disagree.

I have the squier version of this and I like it as a little practice guitar for working out chords and learning new songs. Also works very well as a slide guitar in open tunings. I'd like to get the Fender version of this, mine was made in Indonesia.

Thanks! I have this guitar and always wondered what the wood construction was, always assumed it was some kind of mahogany and had no idea about the top! Awesome wee guitar brought for £99 in my local music shop, only instrument I've ever brought new, about five years ago and still my most played and most loved :)

Notice the neck joining at the 12th fret. Gives more sound with the bridge on a more resonant part of the top. I have big hands but I am very happy with my Hohner 3/4 with Elixir strings. I have been playing it with Open D major tuning for a couple of years. (Today I tuned to C# because I went from .011 to .013 strings. 13's have about 40 pounds more tension and I didn't want the neck to change.)

I bought one of these for my 5 year old son. He can play basic chords and though it is still a little big for him, he will grow into it very soon. I must add that he is a tall kid for his age. I find the guitar to be extremely playable and comfortable. That's why I bought it. The tuners are cheap, though, and the sound is pretty "meh", but it is acceptable. For a beginner instrument or a very minimalist travel guitar it is completely adequate, IMO. I have been playing 34 years and find it enjoyable to play, especially for the price point. Anyway, just a perspective from someone who actually owns and plays this guitar.

I really want to try this guitar because I want to learn to play and I want a smaller guitar (seeing as I'm 13 and I have quite small hands). It isn't very expensive and I think it would work nicely

I have the earlier Squier version too and it's great! It's the companion to my Hondo II H90N classical guitar. I'm under 5 ft tall tho so 3/4 is full-size to me;they are not 'travel' guitars for me. I am looking at a Martin Backpacker (I have strumsticks and love the fun shape).

I had this guitar, hated the way it sounded. Think I gave it to the pawn shop.

this is not a 3/4 guitar platform...if it was the nut would not be 1.68, it would be 1.26 and the neck would be .25 thinner than a regular neck...They always make the body smaller but not the neck which is the most important..feature for small hands....Its sales bait and switch ...Bill Hicks was so right about Liar salesmen...
