Honestly, if the Akito movies were their own thing and not part of Code Grass, people would probably like the knightmare frames a lot more. As someone else in the comments pointed out, these knightmare frames are all actually very good with terrain handling, and the reason they don't have flight capabilities is because that was new tech and still being rolled out. Something else for everyone to consider is that the European Britannians are somewhat independent of the Britannian Empire, add that to the fact that Code Geass takes place in Japan and at one point China, we only get to see the basic Knightmare frames and the Regional based ones (Guren, the four swords' mechs, etc.) And some of the knights of the round's frames, so it makes sense that there are different Knightmare frames in different parts of the world, especially the non Britannian parts as they would have their own unique designs as seen here in Akito and in the Resurrection movie with the knightmare frames from Zilkhisran. Also, to me the CGI actually looks neat, but since Code Geass never had anything animated like that it doesn't feel like it fits. I will say the Akito storyline itself is kind of confusing and weird, especially with the Geass skull and the Joan of Ark Geass spirit and their involvement and motives. But again, if these movies weren't a part of Code Geass, I think a lot more people would appreciate these mechs.

I remember watching this the first time. I dunno why but I laughed so hard when I saw the Knightmare that looks like Sagittarius. LOL.

when everyone think this mech is dumb, it means the didn't watch the anime or they dumb themself.

that's the dumbest one regarding the technological timeline in code geass universe. the flight tech are quite new technology when Akito timeline happened and advanced more by the time lelouch got awakened 2nd time (R2)
the mech (knightmare) of wyvern squad have advantage over any terrain. if you think it's dumb, you are also definitely not watching 86 anime where the mech with the same principle are used and could do death battle vs machine monsters better.
and this centaur knightframe also have those advantage rather than any mech with wheelie. the speed are top notch, terrain adaptability 100%, that's why every time this mech are showed up on the front line, it's became the walking terror to the MC and his comrades.

As someone who love Code Geass (favorite anime) but still didnt watch entirely Akito movies, this mech looks really cool! But it's not fitting with Code Geass, it feel like another universe, wich is weird. The knightmares are probably why I still dont watch these ova, they look different, they dont fit at all in Code Geass, but they are cool
