Was the given date of his birth under the Old Style(OS)? Up to 1750, the limey calendar was TEN days behind. George Washington's birth was recorded OS. He was a few days younger than Martha.

The first election against Washington wasn't close, he was elected unanimously. I doubt the second was close either, as the country tried to convince him to stay for a third term.
