Remember sitting at work listening to this on a Sony Walkman so loud I was missing customers phone calls. Underrated song.

As I kid I would often go to bed listening to music on my headphones. Usually The Offspring or Metallica. It was common to fall asleep to this song, and be woken up a minute later by the secret song at the end

the kids aren't alright is iconic, but this is the best song they've ever written.

Listening to this years and years later, this may actually have been the catalyst for my love of progressive metal and rock.

When I was a little boy in 1999 my grandma took me to Kmart where she let me get a CD. I picked the Slim Shady LP. In the car ride home I played the CD. She made a U Turn and quickly returned back to Kmart where she made me exchange it. She picked Americana because it looked cartoonish. We didn't listen to this in the car ride home. Instead I did alone everyday as an innocent 10 year old. This song makes me think of dying in the desert and being brought back to life by Jasmine on a magic carpet.

I love this song and still listening in 2019. When I heard this song for the first time, I felt like if I was walking a long way to nowhere in the desert dunes in Egypt somewhere.

An album with no bad songs at all, a masterpiece. Back in the day, listening to it on cassette was a special joy because resources were limited, and we would constantly rewind the tape to listen to it again.

In the hardest times in my life i listened to this. I never talk or say what or when these times are, but this album and band brought me through it. I got PTSD from that time, this music is amazing.

Part 1]
[Verse 1]
See the way the wind blows
Lives are intertwined
Watch the way the world goes
The man deals out our plight
Jester in the corner
Laughs without a sound
Jester in the corner
Malady abounds
In our souls [x3]

[Verse 2]
See the way the sun sets
Twilight of this life
The man is making little bets
Playing with our lives
All that I believe now
Anything is possible
A simple explanation
For the evil in this world
And in our souls
In our souls

[Part 2]
[Verse 1]
Come down to sorry and sable
It's always the man
Always keeping you down
Bow down 'cause I see it before me
Shadow and light
That always keeps you running

[Chorus]
Oh-oh
Shut up, you talk too much
Oh-oh-oh
Pay the man now yeah
Oh-oh
Shut up, you talk too much
Oh-oh-oh

[Verse 2]
Look at you and your struggle for freedom
But you ain't nothing
We all pay the man for living
Wouldn't it be nice for a change now
To be unchained?
My life is for me now
But this is life
This is life [x3]
Pay the man (No!) [x3]
It's the man (No! ?)

[Chorus]
Oh-oh
Shut up, you talk too much
Oh-oh-oh
Pay the man now yeah
Oh-oh
Shut up, you talk too much
Oh-oh-oh

Hoo hoo, go!
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh (Don't!)
(No!) Oh-oh-oh (Stop! No!)

Oh-oh
Shut up, you talk too much
Oh-oh-oh
Pay the man now yeah
My life is for me
Oh oh oh

best song from them. Remember when i was 11 or 12, i didn´t know what an electric guitar was, but that song, melody and power made me fall in love with this kind of music, wich is rock, punk, and later, metal.

always resented how religious this album was
that youth pastor feeling of betrayal
that this wasn't actually a party but you got duped into church
