Good effort!. For really heavy vanities, you could try a floating vanity support stand. I make them from my off cuts. It will make securing your fasteners to the wall easier and safer in case of movement.

The cleat does seem sketchy.
I have seen brackets for this application. Though blocking would also be needed if framing layout does not work for placement of brackets in relationship to vanity.
