Dear DaVonna STEELE. Yes, Jimmie Rodgers was ( one ) of the very first country musicians. I just wanted to tell you, that in that same year, which was 1927, the Carter Family: A.P., Sara and Maybelle also did their first recording. Some say that they were the first. Heh heh. So, I”d say they were both :Rodgers and the Carters, responsible for being the first. Just as Bill Monroe was the first for Bluegrass. . Currently, there is a Ken Burns special on PBS all about this stuff. . In read a lot and most say that if these wonderful people heard what is called country music today they’d roll over in their graves . . Best to ya.
