Try a Little Kindness - Tim Surrett (Lyrics on screen and in description)
"Kind hearts are the gardens, Kind thoughts are the roots, Kind words are the flowers, Kind deeds are the fruits, Take care of your garden And keep out the weeds, Fill it with sunshine Kind words and kind deeds." (Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)
The audio is from Tim Surrett's live performance on Bill and Gloria Gaither's show. Most people are more familiar with the Glen Campbell rendition, which I also like very much. But after listening to both versions, I really preferred Tim's because he put such tender emotion into it.
Most people believe it's important to be kind, but sometimes it's difficult. Here's a quote I like which I think is very true: ""Be kind to unkind people - they need it the most." (Ashleigh Brilliant, English Author and Cartoonist, b. 1933)
From Wikipedia:
"Try a Little Kindness" is the title of a song written by Curt Sapaugh and Bobby Austin, first recorded by American country music singer Glen Campbell. The song was a hit on three different music charts: it peaked at number two for one week on the country charts. "Try a Little Kindness" went to number one for one week on the Easy Listening charts as well as peaking at number twenty-three on the Billboard Hot 100.
"Try a Little Kindness" Lyrics:
If you see your brother standing by the road
With a heavy load from the seeds he's sown
And if you see your sister falling by the way
Just stop and say, "You're going the wrong way."
You've got to try a little kindness
Yes, show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of the narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded street
Don't walk around all down and out
Lend a helping hand instead of doubt
And the kindness that you show every day
Might help someone along life's way
You've got to try a little kindness
Yes, show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of the narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streets
Oh, you've got to try a little kindness
Just show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of the narrow-minded people on the narrow-minded streets
