I was a child when I first heard my parents playing these songs on their turntable. I love Joseph Niles music, I am 58 now and still listen to his music. God bless his legacy.

Today some people take life issues as a joke to take to Tim Tom or social media .Human life is a gift it’s a blessing from God .Thanking the police ‘ fire fighters and all those who showed love and kindness to all those who are less fortunate daily .

I am saddened to learn of the passing of one of my favorite gospel singers of all time, Brother Joseph Niles. When I first heard him singing, I was mesmerized by the sweetness of his voice and singing style. Though I know most of the traditional gospel songs he sang, brother Niles and the console-rs sang with awesome pureness of voices that made them new to my ears. My sympathy goes to his family and our brothers and sisters in Barbados.

The first turntable I ever saw belonged to my late grandfather Lemuel Decourcey Reece and the first record I ever played on that turntable was Just A Rose....this same song was played at his funeral. Every Sunday we'd play Skeeta Davis, Charlie Pride, Sister Marshall, Johny Nash & Joseph Niles on that turntable. Sweet memories of my grand-daddy through the music that remains timeless. Only last month I hosted The Israel Lovel's annual Senior Citizens Service of Song and enjoyed singing along to ‪#‎royaltelephone‬. Today we the people of Barbados say farewell to a son of the soil who fought a long battle with dementia. Joseph Niles was a Gospel Icon who in 2004 was inducted into the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame and Museum and in 2013 honored with The Icon Award at the Barbados Music Awards. He has left a legendary catalog of music which is currently still being enjoyed not only in Barbados but throughout the Caribbean and by people throughout the diaspora. I feel sad by his passing but truly.thankful and blessed by the music that Mr. Niles has left plant you a beautiful garden, at last yo ur life's work is due. Don't spend your money on flowers. Just a Rose will do." Rest In Peace Joseph Niles. Sunrise 1940 - Sunset 9/19/2015

Is this the original version of the song?  I know Glen Campbell had a hit with it.  Did this precede Glen's?
