Vladimir Rebikov - Feuilles d'automne, Op.29

Ok, Romantic Rebikov at its best with these 6 melancholic and ambivalent pieces. There are a lot of Chopin influences but also some Rachmaninov and Scriabin (the last piece). Then, jazz harmonies and fourths as always at some points. I really really really love these pieces. Why are they so unknown, it is so unfair!! Of course they don't reach a level of Rachmaninov or so, but they are very solid and modernistic pieces which deserve to be played more often.

7:25 Con tristezza e tenerezza (ok this one is quite straightforward
but has some nice harmonies to offer; also look at the ending)

Thank you for introducing me to Rebikov! He is a really great composer and a real inspiration for me now. I love his desire to keep his works relatively simple and to focus a lot on beautiful and emotional harmony.

The middle voice of the (first) meno mosso reminds me of "Ich grolle nicht und wenn das Herz auch bricht" from Schumann's Dichterliebe. As always, thank you Gamma1734 for sharing your splendid recordings with us!

He reminds me a little bit of Mompou. He is neglected by most concert pianist because these pieces although beautiful, are not technically difficult. A good intermediate player can do a good a job on these as a concert pianist.
