IIoT Application Engineer, Bryce Brewer, breaks down the different configurations for each GraceSense gateway; ControlGate, CloudGate, ComboGate.

CloudGate™
The CloudGate™ transfers data from field nodes into the Cloud using WiFi or LTE. This data is then viewable in the browser-based Maintenance Hub where actionable, real-time insights are provided. The WiFi/LTE configuration can provide cloud-based support to thousands of GraceSense™ wireless nodes within a 30m line-of-site radius, making the architecture massively scalable. In addition, third-party sensors can be hardwired into this gateway configuration.

ControlGate™
The ControlGate™ is a gateway gathers data from field nodes information into a control network via PLC/SCADA and EtherNet/IP™ & MODBUS TCP/IP communication options. ControlGate™ is the gateway into plant floor control systems for GraceSense™ Vibration & Temperature Nodes. This gateway configuration provides users quick integration into their control network.

ComboGate™
The ComboGate™ can bring data from field nodes into the Cloud in our Maintenance Hub and control networks so SCADA with HMIs across a plant alarm and visualize data. This gateway is a hybrid configuration of the CloudGate™ and ControlGate™ configurations. ComboGates™ allow for PLC/SCADA using EtherNet/IP™ & MODBUS TCP/IP as well as featuring communication options for field node information transfers to the Cloud-based Maintenance Hub via LTE or WiFi.

Communication Protocols & Environmental Rating
• Configurations include a variety of communication protocols including EtherNet/IP™, S/B Modbus TCP/IP, WiFi, LTE, and ZigBee.
• Each gateway housing has an environmental rating of IP65 and can be installed on the door of an enclosure.

What is the difference between a Panel-Mount Node and a Gateway?

The Panel-Mount Node is a child in the network like our Vibration and Temperature Node. Panel-Mount Nodes typically have hardwired sensors that gather information from field nodes and send this data to its parent gateway (either a CloudGate™, ControlGate™, or Combogate™). Panel-Mount Nodes also include replaceable, long-life batteries as well as 24-volt connections.
