I always make reading the Bible and meditating on its words part of my daily prayer. But strangely as a Catholic seminarian even in the post-Vatican II era, we were always discouraged from reading the Bible, outside of the two to three readings during Mass. Why? We were told that the Protestant Reformation was largely the result of errant interpretations of the Bible.
