You are a great teacher. I've been teaching for 24 years, and I believe you have the gift. I am learning this song from your lessons (I'm about halfway in). As you say throughout, everything in the lead work of this song will show up somewhere, so the skills are really more important than the song itself. I think it's the cascading elements that give it its beauty. It's almost an inversion of Sultans across the board. Anyway, this tune is important to me, and I thank you for sharing these lessons and your gifts with us.

Yes! One of my fave Dire Straits tracks - kind of like Knopfler's Sultans follow-up track for their second album. Not as popular as Sultans but a brilliant song. The twiddly / outro and the little section after 'jazz singer' line still has my fingers tied in knots so will be interested to see how you play these:). after years of practice finnaly my guitar starts to sound like real music ... Im going to write my own songs now ... I can play this with plectrum because i wanna hold my own style but these tricks in this song are really usefull and recommended to learn, ,, Also traids opened up my fretboard a lot ... Recommended too to learn triads ..
