DIY LED Floating Shelf | Hidden LED Lighting

In this woodworking video I'm going to show you how to make a DIY LED floating shelf with Hidden LED lighting! I'll show you how to build the floating shelf using pine boards and plywood along with basic woodworking techniques and integrate in an LED light strip. I'll also show you how to run the wire down the wall to make it completely discrete. I use both Samsung Smartthings and Google home to control my lights. I build most of this shelf on my DeWalt DWE7491RS table saw, which I absolutely love!

This floating shelf helped me organize my office desk and eliminate the need for a desk lamp with its hidden LED light strip. It's classy and functional. Do you have a use for an LED floating shelves? Leave a comment and tell me what you would do with yours!

Most of the work was done on my DeWalt track saw including the rabbet cut for the the LED light channel.

This new floating shelf really cleaned up my desk. I love the built in LED light. One of my favorite new projects. What would you guys do differently?

Looks great! I'm on the tail end of building six 80" wide shelves on either side of our living room fireplace.

One suggestion: I'd recommend using a sacrificial fence on your table saw and running your rabbet all the way to the edge so you can avoid all the handwork with the chisel. Would likely lead to a cleaner result as well.

Nice work. Off-handed question, but do you have a rule-of-thumb for how to rate the load that shelf could take?

Hi amigo.
Can you share a link for the stud finder?

Why didn’t you hardwire the lights to a dimmer from pulling power from an outlet, way easier and cleaner

Love it! Just curious, where was the power source? Plug in driver? The floating shelf is something I've always loved but it was always unstable the way I did it. I slapped up a 2x4 and said done. Your design, wwwaaayyy better and solid. Bridget(my wife) will now put my lazy ass to task, but not before I clean my guns!
