People need to recognize the time and effort that not only goes into working on the car itself, but to set the camera and film every angel that’s usable. We appreciate it Alex! Thank you! 🙏🏽 cause i can imagine how fast you can get the work done without filming everything.

Had a 95 z28 6-speed in grade 12 . Got rear ended by a girl in my class leaving commencement ceremony, it was a total loss . Bought a 99 SS 6-speed with the insurance . Kept that car for about 5 years . Now 22 years later I just bought a low mileage black 1994 z28 6-speed . Finally got to do all the mods I couldn’t afford in high school . It’s nice to be in a 4th gen again .

good morning from Australia... One thing that also can cause the crunchy shifts is the pilot bearing in the crankshaft, which looked a bit average in the vid. Another maybe indication is the Haynes manual bookmarked at crankshaft, if that's been replaced then the pilot bearing is probably a different size for auto and manual trans. It could have an auto crank in it with the wrong size pilot they didn't swap out, the input shaft then doesn't run true which presents as crunchy shifts at higher revs. Looking forward to the actual diagnosis, it's a beautiful looking car!

My money is on someone loaning this to their teen and the teen decided to do some burnout videos with a 1-2 shift and smoked the synchro and gear…

I can’t believe no one called out the problem. Alex was granny shifting, not double clutching like he should.

Red Mustang Cobra-R, Red Nissan GT-R, Red BMW X6, Red Camaro SS... Safe to say, Alex has a penchant red performance oriented vehicles!😂😂😂

I’m so elated that someone saw the potential of a 5th generation Camaro. These are great muscle cars. I’ve had a 1993 fox body 5.0 5-speed, a 1987 Buick Regal Turbo-T, 2 fourth gen Camaro SS’s, both 6 speed manuals, and now a 5th generation Camaro ZL1 6 speed manual. Mine too had a 2nd gear grind on when cold. I switched to Amsoil Signature Series and no more grinding and it shifts so smooth, like butter. I’m hooked on your channel now that you got a 5th Gen Camaro manual 6 speed. Please keep this car, put a cam and other boot ons. These are awesome cars! 43:16

Hey that car was serviced in my neck of the woods in Fayetteville Arkansas, that’s why it’s so clean underneath no rust! Sweet!

Only thing wrong is the 2nd gear synchro. Because it's the gear most failed shift. The 2nd most abused synchro. Low miles lots of new nonowner drivers. There is some case damage that can show the same symptoms but this is missing the other signs. Confidence 90%.
I got a cheaper set of sockets and pressed in my own super strong magnets into them for my own magnet set. I can still use the sockets though they are shallow. Some places it's very handy to have a set of magnet sockets so you don't drop them or have to reach. Reason is I could pull a full GM auto trans and transfer case on the bench in under 40 min. Fastest time is 37min. Fiddling wastes time. This trans should be on the bench on under 15 min. I miss working in the shop. I was disabled a few years back.

I find it so amazing that Alex can get as excited as he does to take out a transmission and just dive in and figure out what is wrong with it and fix it DIY style. Boggles my mind. Seeing such a young man take this much interest and expert care of these vehicles he finds and buys that are in "not such great shape" is why I keep coming back for more. He is also awesome at showing what he is doing and explaining what he is doing. Thanks Alex, for all you do for us.

30:26 Those 3.45 diffs are strong and desirable for other auto zeta chassis cars that drag race. I have seen stock ones go 10s and when built properly they can handle 9 second passes. However the ZL1 diffs are stronger. I have made multiple 9 second passes on stock diff driveshaft and axles. 5th gens are great cars.

Who has ever owned a Camaro or Firebird? I think I'm at 3 Birds and technically 2 Camaros. The 3rd Gen I only had for a week though.

Most of the gm ford and dodge tr6060 transmissions had the same issue. I had mine done under warranty at about 5000 miles. The blocking rings between 1st and 2nd had to be replaced. If you baby it say under 3000 rpm it shifted no problem. Get on the throttle and it grinder every time. Haven't had that issue since and that was done in 2011.

I had similar notchy-ness on my SS. I replace the trans fluid with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF and it fixed it right up.
