Hillsdale College: "...all men are created equal and that we therefore, who have created our own government, have a moral right to say who will be our future fellow citizens." If that is true, then the people that lived in America, having equal rights with those who came from outside, had a right to say you can't come in. I can tell you that whatever the founding fathers said, the response of the government to the people who alreasdy lived here was they had no right to demand their land, their way of life, or their future fellow citizens. They, despite being completely equal according to the Constitution, were treated as an irritation that required a military solution. Then there were the Africans who were forced to come to the USA, and, again, despite being equal citizens were denied freedom, denied suffrage, and had to wait a hundred years to get a vote.
