Is Ukraine using chemical weapons against Russia?

You can find the video and my substack article available for free here:

There are a couple of problems with using chemical weapons on the battlefield under modern conditions:
#1. Using a chemical weapon to target an individual soldier gives no tactical advantage while creating all sorts of strategic problems.
#2. Production is hard. While a chemical weapon could theoretically be created in a high school chemistry lab, loading that agent into a shell requires state support. It is doubtful Ukraine would make chemical weapons a state policy for reason #1.
#3. Blood agents like the cyanogen chloride that was claimed to have been used cause hypoxia, not the kind of thrashing associated with drowning.

This is how Russian propaganda works - it preys on your lack of knowledge about how the military and chemical weapons work. Fight back with knowledge.

In that video, the soldier that dies was already injured from the start before the grenade drops- you can see his buddy trying to help him out of the creek, then there is cut in video during which the friend leaves, I'm sure he was unable to get him out of the water so left the injured to succumb to his wounds and drown. A spine injury maybe.

Dude drowned and was probably suffering from the fragments. Also VOG-17s are too small to be fast acting chemical shells

That was a grenade, not gas. Soldier was injured and drowned. Simple as

God, that video is honestly horrific. He either A. was injured and couldn't physically get up or B. he was exhausted, and the freezing cold water mixed with wearing heavy gear made it impossible to get up on his own. either way, what an awful way to go

Thank you again for clearing this up. The ammount of straight up lies we are fed on the internet is just mindblowing so its always nice to hear a well articulated professionals opinion.

Ukraine has zero reason to use chemical weapons. They’re benefiting infinitely more from NATO support and supplies than they ever would from using gas or slime, especially considering it’s their land they’re fighting in and how damaging chems would be to the environment and any nearby civilians.

You’re doing the world an immense good with these videos, and I cannot thank you enough for them. A lot of folks don’t understand this kind of stuff, and you’re an excellent communicator and a perfect weapon against these propagandist lies!

It's interesting how these people can't believe that a weakened, cold, injured, tired, and confused man wearing heavy body armor could end up panicking and drowning in a flooded trench.

I don't think Ukraine would be willing to jeopardize the foreign aid they're receiving by using chemical weapons.

Thank you. I watched the video yesterday and I thought it looked like he caught fragmentation above the shoulders. Extremely heartbreaking to watch anyone die the way this soldier did. Don't care which flag you fight under.

Not only that, but chemical weapons are still ridiculously dangerous to the people using them as well; one slipup and congratulations, you've hosed your own position with something that will kill everyone there in one of the worst ways a human being can die. It's just never worth it, strategically or tactically, to use chemical weapons, especially in a modern war where most forces are highly maneuverable.

Why would you drop a grenade with chemical weapon if you can just as well drop a regular grenade? Logic ?

If Russia is accusing Ukraine of using Chemical Weaponry...
Then that tells me that Russia has.

If this is the one where the guy drows i know what happened. Dude was hit pretty close to the head and shattered the vestibular nerve and a few other connections. This caused the guy to be blind and not know the difference between up and down. This has been seen in football before.

Chemical weapons would most effectively be used against rear areas like logistics hubs and airfields. Your main objective isn't really to kill everyone, but to make them have to shelter, put on protective gear, decon everything, etc. Makes it's harder for planes to launch, supplies to be unloaded and loaded, etc.

My guess for what it's worth is I'd say head trauma plus probably a touch of hypothermia. Both impair movement tremendously. I'd say absolutely not to chemical weapons

Thanks for setting the record straight, Ryan.

I was more disgusted that people were rushing to Defend *Chemical Weapons* just because it was Ukraine that supposedly used them.
This pointless war has really brought out the worst in people

It's a brutal video, WW1 repeated in 4K HD with multiple camera angles. We are witnessing the nightmares that play on in the minds of our veterans, unbelievable.
