Renault Duster 1.5dCi TechRoad Auto Test Review
Показать описание
Renault South Africa recently added a new value based option to the highly popular Duster range. Named the TechRoad, it combines the extremely frugal diesel engine in a package that makes do with a few less luxury trimmings than the range topping prestige version while adding a few funky, modern touches to the interior.
The TechRoad is offered with either a 5 speed manual or Renault's 6 speed dual clutch automatic transmission known as the EDC. The test vehicle was fitted with the very smooth and functional (especially in traffic) EDC.
The chunky Duster shape has the typical quasi off-road look with a raised ride, body cladding and roof rails as standard. It shouts "rough and tough".
On the inside, there are cloth seats instead of the leather in the Prestige version, but the standard touchscreen with navigation and reverse camera are all still there. A few very colourful trim items provide a light and funky interior, that is very spacious in the market segment.
The stand-out feature MUST be the incredible fuel economy that the Renault Group 1.5 diesel engine consistently delivers. 80kW and 250Nm ensure lively performance and yet the consumption figure for a full week of mixed driving showed exactly 5.0L/100km on the onboard computer. This rates as one of the best figures ever achieved by MotorMatters.
Priced at R332 900, this includes a 3year/ 45 000km service plan.
