BACKGROUND: “Foundations of Faith,” a 12-week study is designed to deepen our understanding of essential Christian beliefs. Over the next several weeks we will explore key doctrines, including the nature of the Triune God, the significance of Jesus’ death and resurrection, and the role of the apostles in the early Church.

LESSON 1: GOD THE FATHER
The Trinity consists of three distinct persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
These three persons are distinct yet fully and equally God, existing within the unity of the divine essence. The Trinity embodies both order and equality.
Although the term “Trinity” is not explicitly used in the Bible, both the New Testament and the writings of the Church Fathers contain triadic statements that affirm this doctrine.
