Obviously, she’s trying to turn this into a left/right battle, when in reality, Latinx has no cultural basis in our lexicon…

This Latina doesn’t get it. It’s a word that isn’t traditionally in our language, but non-Latinos are trying too hard to change our language.

She's very smart. Notice that she tries to blame right wingers instead of the people that actually don't like the word.

She’s trying too hard & is basically saying the problem is us for not accepting the term. I can’t say enough as a Latino how cringeworthy it is to be looked down on simply for disagreeing with the use of the term or for political/academic operatives to think they know better than everyday people.🤦🏽‍♂️. The sad part is that I agree with the overall general spirit of what they are trying here in being more inclusive. I just don’t want a word to describe me whose creation I had no say in. Had we been included in the discussion, I would have said right off the bat take off that x. Last I checked, x is not a vowel

Just like Dave Chapelle said, they keep inventing words to win arguments.

The commentator is foolish (Paola Ramos).

"Latinx" is linguistic imperialism—a modern colonialist effort by a vacuous, leftist performative crowd to anglicize the Spanish language. It's an insulting endeavor that tries to minimize the role of Spanish-speaking people in choosing a term to describe ourselves as a population. She fails to address these points and instead, tries to reframe the debate as a "left" vs. "right" issue and as a battle between those who are more accepting of inclusivity vs. those who are not. This is utter nonsense.

I say all this as a left-leaning, Colombian-born voter.

The term is hyper-American. It has nothing to do with Spanish. That's the crux of the issue. It's being imposed and does not come from within Latin American communities. Go back to losing campaigns, Ramos.

I wish we could see the dislikes on this video.

Yeah this "Latinx" thing is pretty annoying to be honest.

Latinx is a ridiculous word, who makes this stuff up? I'm Dominican, born in Dominican republic, people don't even know that's even a word.

I am as far to left and inclusive as you get. The term "LatinX" is actively offensive to me. The "right" is barely a whisper in my circle, to say that my antagonism towards the term is a consequence of conservative right propaganda is at minimum incorrect. The term "Latina/o" is a concession to start, my ethnicity is much more complicated. It would be fair to ADD LatinX to the available terms but to REPLACE it is a vain, conceited, patronizing effort.

Paola is hot enough to have never been told she’s got a dumb point. “Latino” is already the gender-neutral term, it’s literally derived from the Latin neuter gender.

I'm annoyed that 2% of a group of people think they have the power to choose to change a broad term that really has nothing negative in connotations. She is out of touch with the majority of Hispanic/Latinos.

No one uses that word in my community. Democrats losing big in the mid terms with identity politics. Didn’t deliver on a single campaign promise.

Wouldn't the use of the word Latin be gender neutral and is already in use? Or let the Latin community choose their own words and how to express themselves

This isnt a new poll. . .98 percent of us have rejected that term for years and years to come

This is completely asinine. Latino is meant to describe people from Latin America, which covers almost half of North America and all of South America. The same goes for Africans, Asians or Europeans. Why do we have to keep dividing ourselves more and more? How are we supposed to be equal if everyone keeps telling us we're different?

Ppl that don’t take responsibility are the only ones that use Latinx 🤷🏽‍♂️ she really tried to speak for us when she’s comes off more white then a Latino.

I would prefer to call them Mexicans, Dominicans, Guatemalans, Honduran, Panamanian, Costa Ricans, Chileans, Argentinans, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Bolivians, Colombians, Nicaraguans, and the like.
