LA is a different beast flying into at night -- I was also on the right-hand side, in a 75, and coming in over the city was a jaw-dropping experience. Quickly became unnerving on short final, as I felt like we were going 150+ MPH mere feet above buildings and the 405.

Was also unnerving watching other planes from the Hertz/Budget megalot next to LAX doing the same thing that I just did. :)

I'm glad you got to get out there. If you get out there again, do check out Seal Beach (phenomenal sunset views) and the California Science Center Figuroa for Endeavour (when they get that exhibit completed; as of three months ago they were planning on updating the entire facility). The PCH from Santa Monica up to Oxnard is also a good drive.
