To note the satan in the book of job is called ha-satan which isn’t actually satan just an angel that had spoken up to challenge god. A more modern translation might be that an angel played devil’s advocate with god.

Isaiah 45:7, "I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil. I am Jehovah, that doeth all these things." (ASV) Cf.: "Hinduism".

Job did not 'understand' what evil was for - though his response to it was correct by 'avoiding' it.

It would be horrible to believe that God would allow Job to be tortured for no reason, thus Satan (ha satan) has the 'job' of CONSIDERING what it is that one fears, and can attack someone on these points, because to fear ANYTHING except God is 'sin'.

Notice the list that is given of reasons 'why' Job fears God - there is not a single thing on that list that is 'fearful' - thus it can be understood that Job fears NOTHING except God, and so much so that he is even unwilling to 'curse' God to His face... in order to end his suffering.

If you would like to understand a working and 100% scripturally backed 'theodicy' - I have done a lot of work on it, the details of which pose inescapable ramifications for ALL of mankind - regardless of specific religion or creed. Furthermore I can explain why it is actually necessary and 'good' that the LORD (Isaiah 45: 7) 'creates' evil, as without it God could not show partiality via mercy and grace.

I don't see the true God being tempted by evil much less in league with it. These are tempters,

God creates man who is driven for finding reason.

God say's "there is no reason, stop focusing on it, I do as I please so just submit"

lol seems like the human condition is set up to fail... and then humans are rebuked for the desires god instilled in them. Sounds more like the work of an incompetent demiurge if you ask me
