Alienware R13 Unboxing + First Impressions from an Architect

Finally upgraded my current desktop with the Dell Alienware Aurora R13. I'll be using this computer to run various architecture programs along for video editing. In this video I discuss the custom computer specs I choose, I unbox the computer, and provide my initial thoughts about the computer from an architect's perspective.

Thanks for the infos and your thought process. I watch it all, also not being a gamer I was interested in your choice, since I ordered pretty much the same as you, Only Dark Side of the Moon & RTX 3080 different, "In Production" now!! RTX 3080 is pretty much for watching 4K movies for me, so I wouldn't need more. I had pretty much the same thought process for the specs; intel i9, RAM min 64, as much ssd/hdd possible!, and in my case... a priority being still stuck at usb 2.0, speed for file transfer!!! Now let's go find your color changing & 6 months reviews!!lol Thanks again, enjoy your Alien!

Dell these days is quite unlike the Dell in the yesteryears. They have come up with a system called Support Assist that is a disguised planned obsolescence system. Think of it as a Trojan horse. It is introduced to keep your systems updated and working till the warranty period, and swiftly after the warranty expiry keeps introducing updates that lead to one or the other software malfunction. The warranty then offered for a year or two is close to the price of a new laptop; just slightly lesser perhaps. So, my two cents is to ignore the fancy lighting, packaging and other fancy stuff and go for a brand that provides you the not so fancy but a reliable and lasting product. I bought an Aurora last year and it is close to garbage. All the best folks!!

Being an Industrial Designer for 20 some years...Dell is nice for their service and warranty but I would choose building your own machine from scratch. It gives you knowledge and experince into the computer that will be your workhorse. Also never put all your eggs in one basket. Have two machines if you, can 1 for gaming and 1 for work...since the gaming can be your backup for your work machine. 😁😁
