Britney's comments about her appearance suggest that, for her, being able to be a mess is literally a novelty, an exercise of her freedom. After so many years of being under pressure to be perfect, as she called it, she has indicated that she relishes the experience of being able to do the opposite. This is a very normal reaction, because as humans we often want to do or experience the opposite when a particular lifestyle or behaviour has been pushed on us for a long time.

Being the same age as Brittany, for the early part of the book, I just wanna say that it wasn't just Louisiana that was like that back then. A lot of the non-urban areas of the country were too. Her childhood was very normal for the 80s.

This book comes from Britney with the help of editors. All writers and memoirs have editors. Celebrity memoirs have both editors and most have cowriters or ghost writers. There might be inconsistencies in the book but considering she's been on lithium for so long, it's amazing how much she could remember.

Britney has said over on Insta she had lots of therapy and hard work to write this book. I can see how a therapist was possibly helping Britney understand the family dynamics and natural feelings a child has for a parent and the generational trauma that caused her family to be who they were and now who she was for the book!.
