Killing it! Great job with this! I watched this curious as to how similar our processes were and it's astonishing how similar!

Can confirm this is more or less exactly how it's worked when I've been an orchestrator for people!
Very nicely explained :)

This one is now saved. In the Studio One group I moderate there are those questions about "why does the score of my mockup look so bad????" and they will not take the answer "because the notes are not on the correct time stamp, the runs you actuivated with a keyswitch can't be translated to notes automatically.", well, explaining them that the software will not be able to know the difference between "played as intended" and "needed for the sake of the sound". I can now link them to this video to basically tell them: Look, this is what the pros will tell you! Now shut up!

Thank you for another helpful video!

Your channel is massively inspiring to me, a fellow composer - so much information not easily found elsewhere. Thank you!

By day I am an MD... but in my free time I pose as a film composer! Ha ha. I will never be sending MIDI files to any orchestrator, but I have been following your advice in my compositions. It really pays off in the final mix. I clean up the MIDI every step of the way! I love your videos.

Calm and self-confident lady shares the working routine tricks of the industry with other people. Thanks for revealing the way to change the expressiveness of the string libraries without a separately purchased controller.

Thank you very much! I'm currently learning how to use my notation software, so I can orchestrate better and how to better respect my orchestrator.

Thanks for this tutorial. I’ve been getting in the habit of notating all my sessions that I find to be meaningful for the hope of the future (whenever I finally get to record live musicians lol 😅) These tips are already helping me out so much!

Something completely unrelated lol ..
1. What software do you use to record the audio from Cubase when streaming/making videos?
2. I noticed you have so many different color options (5:52), how do you get those options available? And how do you get it so that when you’re looking at sections of the orchestra but in the editor window, the midi notes maintain the same color as the track color? 😅

If only all composers were that meticulous. I think the old days were a bit easier with the handwritten sketches etc..With complex music MIDI files can be a challenge if you aren't 100% familiar with the composer's intent and/or style. Small details are the key to a great orchestration and sometimes those are lost especially if the composer doesn't know how to read scores. Things can get even worse if said composer is adamant about their mostly wrong choices.

I was wondering how the single-MIDI note orchestral FX were dealt with. Thanks for clearing that up!

What about putting all articulations into the same track? On an orchestral score they don't have a separate stave for all the different playing techniques, they have performance directions written onto the same stave
