Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow video game review of Mega Man ZX, an action platformer novel developed by Inti Creates and published in 2007 by Capcom for the Nintendo DS. It's tough to tell which Mega Man series this game spun off of, but it's colorful action platforming taken into a much wider world. Featuring a diverse collection of locales and some awesome touchscreen functionality, Mega Man ZX tasks players to traverse dozens of zones to recover the stolen biometals and stop a robot uprising. This CGRundertow video game review features video gameplay footage of Mega Man ZX for the DS and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

ZX and ZXA were some of my favorite games. They took what made X and Zero good... and put them together.

We need another game in this series. While admittedly the games didn't really change the status quo (model A's function was pretty cool though) It did elaborate on something previously regulated only to the Zero series of platformers: it created a world with lots of good characters that you wanted to help. While in the original megaman I didn't really care about the people megaman was protecting (let's face it, they trusted Wily in 9, they can't be that bright.) Zero gave us NPC's like Ciel that we wanted to fight for, and ZX gave us a world that we wanted to protect. ZXA's cliffhanger notwithstanding, ZX is our chance to see the better world that Zero created and look for the characters that we met in Zero. Here's hoping for a 3ds zx game that tells us what happened to Ciel and the others. Plus you get to kill that #$@% Weil again. That's got to be worth something.

Funny, i tought the metroidvania elements were the bad part. For the most part it was walking time until you get to the actual stage

Say what you will about the game itself, the soundtrack is amazing!

I got the game yesterday and so far the only problem I have with it is that after you beat the boss you have to backtrack through the entire stage and if you get a game over before you can get to a transerver and officially complete the mission guess what you get to do the whole entire thing all over again.

I agree with you, don't get me wrong nostalgia is all well and good, but looking to the past with "Classic style" isn't the way forward. Megaman ZX and ZX Advent are two of my favorite Megaman games and they did tease at ZX3 (but that was a cruel april fools joke), even if Ashe's voice acting was totally uninspired and lets be honest the game was made for Grey, but their still up there with Battle Network 6.

And it's quite old, actually. The first ZX came out in 2006, followed by ZX Advent, released in 2007. Both games are great. Play them if you have the chance.

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I think ZX Advent deserves a separate review. At least I'd like to know the CGR Undertow's take on the game.

In fact a third ZX game has been heavily hinted at the end of ZX Advent. When and if it will ever come is beyond me.

I love this game, it's the game I picked up my DS with. I would replay it but my DS is broken. :c

Main timeline: classic, X, Zero, ZX and legends. Alternate timeline: Battle Network and starforce.

And what Derek said at the end, was probably why they made Mega Man 9 and 10 with old NES graphics.

Like wraithstaff said, Battle Network and Starforce are in a timeline of their own, and yes, SF IS the last in the BN series. (As of right now at least.) For the "normal" timeline though, Legends is actually the last in the series.
