Das Konzert fand am 18.05.2018 während des Rock Hard Festivals in Gelsenkirchen statt.

Was als Death- und Black Metal Band begann, ist mittlerweile eine Institution im Gothic Metal und Psychedelic Rock: die schwedische Band Tiamat um den charismatischen Frontmann Johan Endlund.
1988 im schwedischen Täby unter dem mehr als fragwürdigen Namen Treblinka gegründet (der sich auf das deutsche Vernichtungslager während des Dritten Reichs bezieht), machen Tiamat zunächst eine knüppelharte Mischung aus Death und Black Metal.
Nach der Umbenennung in Tiamat entfernt sich die Band um Sänger Johan "Hellslaughter" Edlund recht schnell von ihrem Ursprungssound und lässt Einflüsse von Psychedelic Rock und Gothic Metal zu. Der Band-Klang wird dank filigraner Melodien und den Einsatz von Keyboards immer atmosphärischer und dichter.
Einflüsse von Bands wie Pink Floyd oder Sisters Of Mercy sind hie und da zu hören, und die häufigen Ausflüge in verschiedene Stile machen es vielen Fans nicht leicht, der Band die Treue zu halten. Andererseits empfinden andere genau diesen Eklektizismus als die große Stärke der Band.

Still remember buying " Wildhoney" back in the 90s. Just a teen discovering Tiamat...and years later still my favorite album to date from them. Scary, just damn right scary how time flies.
