Solstice: The Earth is reaching the turning point

preview_player
Показать описание
The hemisphere that is tilted towards the sun has summer and the hemisphere away from the sun has winter. The solstice is the moment in time when one hemisphere of the world has reached the point tilted most towards the sun and the other is tilted furthest away.
Once this moment has passed, the Earth begins its six-month journey towards the next solstice, bringing the opposite season to the northern and southern hemispheres.
While it's the winter solstice in one hemisphere it's the summer solstice in the other hemisphere. In the United Kingdom the solstice is a little after 11pm on 21 December this year; however all time zones east of the GMT, it is already 22 December, so the date of the solstice depends on where you are on the planet.

You’re words at the end are the reason I like this day so much. Days will only get longer after today :)

What would have been interesting to see is if he had his sunset backdrop change in relation to the seasons.

Yes great time of the year, I tend to celebrate the winter solstice more than I do the Christmas day holiday, but that's just me, I shall light a candle in my home and celebrate the return of the Sun.

summer is a long way off...if you're 7 and sitting in your school room, it's looming for some parents as summer vacations ensue, and for some of us, it's only six months away...a quick flash through the year, spring will hardly make an impact as we head into next winter...now next winter  that's a way off...but not too long...

The earth rotation is about 366 in a year as per rotation 23h 56' 4" to accommodate light and darkness. That is equal 2 hours a month and one day in a year.
The degree inclination is at 66.6' that is equal at 23.4' very strange numbers. Where I live we do not move at all.

Earth is changing the rotational angle and eventually sun is gonna rise from west which has been mentioned in quran 1400 years ago, isnt it miracle?
