We start in New York where President Park Geun-hye has been holding talks with UN chief Ban Ki-moon ahead of a couple of busy days at the UN General Assembly.
Later tonight, Korea time,... the president will attend a key UN event focused on sustainable development.
Hwang Sung-hee reports.
Upon arriving in New York on Friday, local time, President Park Geun-hye was welcomed by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
A range of issues were discussed... from expanding cooperation between South Korea and the UN and promoting sustainable development.
Another key topic was dealing with North Korea′s nuclear ambitions and its possible long-range rocket launch next month.

"President Park expressed hope North Korea will pave the way for a peaceful reunification by ending its obsession with nuclear weapons and its passive attitude toward inter-Korean talks. Secretary General Ban agreed on the need for North Korea to engage in dialogue with the international community."

A keynote speech at the UN Sustainable Development Summit will be President Park′s first official schedule for Saturday.
On the first day of the summit on Friday, the 193 UN member states adopted the so-called 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
This includes 17 goals for ending poverty over the next 15 years, addressing a range of social needs like education and health while also touching upon issues like climate change and environmental protection.
President Park is expected to lay out her vision for its successful implementation in her keynote speech by sharing South Korea′s development experience.

"Also on Saturday, President Park will attend a special high-level forum on Korea′s rural community development program, known as the Saemaul Movement, with leaders from Rwanda, Laos, Vietnam and Peru... as well as the UN chief.
Hwang Sung-hee, Arirang News."
