Ryobi Drill review Brushless Fail

After drilling about 32 holes in 3/16 steel Pilot hole .25 then finish hole .5 then the drill shut down as it often does. It usually recovers without any problems. This time when i set the drill down after a few minutes it started smoking and self destructed. Lucky I was in the shop and it was on a steel workbench so no harm done( other than to the drill). This is the last Ryobi in my collection of drills.
