Marvel's real plans for a new Doctor Doom in the MCU that is not Robert Downey Jr. Before Marvel announced that RDJ was returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom, they reportedly had other plans for Doctor Doom before Avengers Secret Wars and after as well, in a big way. They reportedly had solo project plans for Doom and also had planned for him to be just like Loki, appearing in many different places, movies and shows, for a very long time. I think I know the reason why RDJ was casted as Doctor Doom: there just isn't enough time to introduce a comic-accurate, Latverian Doom and explore his relationship with Mephisto and Reed Richards so late into the Multiverse Saga. So instead, they have decided to make Doom a variant of an already established character so that audiences could get attached to him easier rather than introducing a whole new villain with such a rich backstory and history with the Fantastic Four that would require more than just two or three movies to develop.

It's almost surreal seeing Cillian's name floating for Doom. back before Oppenheimer etc i had mentioned on social media that Cillian Murphy would be great as Doom. I actually remember tweeting that same thing to Warren at some point.

When i saw Cillian in "In Time" his mannerisms just gave me Doom vibes and I always said if Doom were to show up in Marvel, Cillian would be perfect. To now see his name come up for Doom by others makes me smile.

In the comics Iron Man has never fully transitioned into a villain in the Marvel Universe. While he has faced moral dilemmas and made questionable decisions, his core character remains heroic. So tired of Hollywood ruining the original comic book characters

At first, I didn't get this. Now it's starting to make sense. It's a dr. Doom variant rather than the main one. I think this one will die at the end of Secret Wars, and then when the new main universe is created, the new main Victor van doom will be in it.
Seeing Robert Downy Jr.'s character die again on screen will be hard to witness, but I'm pretty sure it'll happen.

If he playing the infamous iron man, although a twist from the comic, that might be a good direction to take the story, but the smartest and more the more comic accurate choice would be superior iron man.
