U.S. pediatric COVID cases surge to record highs as millions of students return to schools

With the Delta variant surging, more children are catching COVID than ever before and pediatric hospitalizations are breaking records in Texas. Some Texas parents are frustrated with school leaders as outbreaks in classrooms send students and teachers home. Mireya Villarreal reports.

Cases are higher than last year, hospitals are overflowing, and our children are unprotected from idiots. We’re going backward instead of forward...yet all is open, like...no worries. WTF?

Our family got covid from my teen who was mandated to go in person though I didn't want that. The school was packing the kids on the buses like sardines. It was ridiculous. My 2 month old and I got it the worst with breathing issues. 18 months of self isolation only to end up sick because we couldn't choose virtual. We didn't even last a month before they closed the school. Too little too late. I'm just grateful it wasn't worse.

Schools no longer get funding for virtual classes. We obviously live in a crazy world where logic and decency no longer exist.
I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that this is our new reality.

Historically Pandemics have lasted 36 to 48 months...that was before air travel...the #1 edict from my dad, a Pediatric Epidemiologist, was DO NOT TRAVEL DURING PANDEMIC. That didn't work well...did it?

I really wish they would have invested more into ventilation systems and hiring more staff so there’s less students per class, rather than these “deep cleanings”.

I’m glad I haven’t send my kids back to school and I won’t I’ll fight the fact!. My youngest son has underline conditions and if I send my 2 oldest son to school they will just bring it home to get all of us sick 😷 the state needs to start doing virtual again

My college makes $4, 000, 000 per semester in parking fees. And about the same in food sales. The economy is more important than human lives.
